An Ensemble
An Ensemble
Over the years, I've created a number of GoldBox Views and other projects that seem to be of general interest
to many of my clients. They are, in effect, action-oriented utilities that anyone who has GoldBox and
GoldMine might use.
Because I don't sell software (not even what I've put together), I won't be releasing these utilities as products.
But what I will do is make them available as an ensemble to my end-user clients who don't already have
them, just for the cost of the time required to install and test them. Among these utilities are:
The Data Cleaner: shown elsewhere on this site, this set of Query-By-Entry (QBE) Views is designed to
enable you to easily find and correct non-valid (single entry) field values. The set comes with 13 Contact1
fields, and could be expanded to 20. The Views can also be copied, with the copy re-fitted for Contact2,
Conthist or any other GoldMine table that needs cleaning.
Data Cleaner for MergeCodes: This companion for the above View Set is specially designed to process
multiple entry fields, like the Main Contact and E-mail MergeCodes. Requires a "prep" button, but otherwise
works the same way the original Data Cleaner works.
Write History to Group: This QBE View set enables a User to select any of his/her Groups, and to create a
History record for each Member of the Group. Field values like Reference, the Codes, the Ondate, etc. are all
filled in via Lookup List or calendar. (NOTE: due to GoldMine's many scheduling options, there will be no
comparable View set for creating Pending/Calendar entries.)
Make-Up Group: This set of 2 automatic Views plus a Group Builder calculates the correct "make-up"
quantity for a Group of cold calls each day, and produces a Group with that number of Members for the User
who pushed a Taskbar button. The utility takes into account call backs of cold calls that are already
scheduled for the day; so it compensates for the tendency of most Users to build up a backlog of Calls due
to Rollovers and Call Backs. Once the Group is updated, the User simply Activates the Group and tells
GoldMine to Schedule the Calls for the Activated Group.
Copy/Move History record: This View enables one-off Copy or Move of a single History record (including
E-mail, if applicable). Most recent versions of GoldMine have the Move available, but none have the Copy
option.
Copy/Move Detail record: same as above, except for Details.
SalesManager's Summary View: also shown elsewhere on this site, a sort of kitchen-sink View of a
Contact, mostly "by the numbers".
OrgChart by Corp, State, City, Contact: Fast, automated creation of up to 4-level GoldMine OrgCharts. This
arrangement can be altered as needed.
History Notes Search: Especially useful if your Notes Tab Notes have been converted to History records
(using a feature in GoldBox). This set of Views allows searching for any "string" in the History Notes of the
current GoldMine record; or of all GoldMine records. Other search criteria include References (Products, if a
Sale); Activity Codes; Result Codes; Users; and Date Range. Results are easily readable in an
HTML-stripped View. If needed, multiple searches can be accumulated and Exported to either ASCII CSV or
dBase. Sorry, this utility will not be available for GoldMine SE.
Latest History in OrgChart: This is part of a newly-developed set of capabilities, focused on using GoldBox
to Replicate data within GoldBox-produced OrgCharts in an automated manner. Although many variations
are possible, the Ensemble version determines, for each OrgChart, the most recently-created History record
within the OrgChart. It then replicates the name of the OrgChart Member with that History; and the Date, User
and Reference from that record; to UDFs in the records of all the members of the OrgChart. Look for
additional versions of this capability in the future, including auto-Replication of collections of Main Contact
fields; and Replication of data from specific Detail records to OrgChart Member UDFs.
All of the above are available for GM SE (except as noted) and for GM CE, provided you have the appropriate
GoldBox product installed. GoldBox 7 is known to work with GoldMine PE, but these Views may not have
been tested on that product yet.
So, how do you become a client of mine, if you aren't already? Only 3 things are required:
1. We have a chat by phone (15 minutes or so), and agree at the end of it that we should be working
together. No charge for this, of course.
2. We have a one hour consult. This can be split over up to 4 conversations, but must be prepaid at
my usual rate.
3. You provide me with either GoToMyPC or LogMeIn as a means of working on your site. LogMeIn has a free
version that is acceptable to me.
Once these have been accomplished, I'll give you a firm figure for installing any/all of these Views, which
you'll pay in advance. Then, I'll do the install at our first available opportunity.
