GoldBox Views
The example below illustrates some of the special capabilities of GoldBox Views. Click on the thumbnail
to see the View. The text describes some of the View's more notable features.
SalesManager's Completed (QBE) View. GoldBox QBE Views are actually pairs of
Views. The one on top at the left is used to configure a SQL query ("Query By Entry").
Because this is a "Completed" QBE set, the query is a join of Contact1, Contact2 and
Conthist. The options available are extremely sophisticated, including Lookup Lists for
entry; positive or negative logic; multiple entries for many fields; date range entry by
calendar; etc. Then, when the query has been configured, a single button opens the
second View, which contains the Result Set.
- This particular QBE is set up for a second type of query. The third column of the top View is configured
for a "Main Contact only" query. Naturally, its Result Set is different than the first Result Set, because it
contains no History fields. That's the third View shown above.
- Because of the great flexibility and speed of these Views, some clients use them in place of reports,
where possible. However, it's easy to Export the data in the View to Excel. In fact, it's not difficult to
create "Excel report templates", complete with summary fields at the top, and the data inserted at a
specific spot in the template.
